You are no doubt concerned about the current pandemic and what this means to your daily life and plans for the next few months.
Under the government's instruction non-essential travel to the Island is not possible. So we are obviously not accepting bookings for the current lock-down period. If the instruction changes and careful and responsible travel is possible we will re-open our bookings. In such circumstances, as Wightlink and Red Funnel offer ferries that allow you to stay in your car, you can make the entire journey from your door to ours without leaving your vehicle. Please note also that:
The Granary is in an isolated spot at the end of an old country lane, bordering on fields and woodland. This makes it very easy to limit contact with people
Booked in advance, it is possible to have your shopping delivered. This includes deliveries from small suppliers such as the bakery, butcher, veg farm, or restaurants all of whom are concerned about their business surviving the outbreak. We also provide the basic food staples. Our guests all comment how the kitchen is extremely well-equipped for self catering.
There is plenty to do on the Island and in immediate vicinity which does not involve large gatherings: beach walking, fossil hunting, hill hiking, cycling, cold pool dipping (our pool is sparkling clean if a bit cool at the moment) or just chilling in our lovely barn by the wood burner with board games and large screen movie nights.
There are currently very few confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the Island. You can track current numbers here.
The accommodation is cleaned thoroughly using disinfectant and additional wipes and sprays are available to use. And we do have loo paper!
Stay safe and please keep us posted as to your plans and any questions you may have. You can also read our blog on socially distant activities to enjoy on the Island.
